Description and aims

The IDEA League, founded in 1999, is a strategic alliance among five leading European universities of technology, science and engineering, committed to bringing science to society. The five member institutions are: Delft University of Technology, ETH Zurich, RWTH Aachen University, Chalmers University of Technology and Politecnico di Milano, which has entered the network in March 2016.

IDEA League develops cooperation programmes and projects for students, for doctoral candidates, for researchers, for academic staff and for professional support, in order to enhance the quality of the skills of the people working and studying at the member institutions.

Challenge programme

The IDEA League Challenge programme is a programme of extra-curricular activities for selected highly talented students. It consists of four modules in the form of long weekends (Thursday evening - Sunday afternoon) organized alternatively at each IDEA league partner university (RWTH Aachen, Politecnico di Milano, Chalmers University, ETH Zurich).

The programme is addressed to excellent students interested in future leadership roles, both in the public and private sector, and therefore interested in issues at the intersection of technology and society.

Selected students will receive a gross amount of 1,000.00€, that partially covers the costs of travels and meals, to participate in the four modules. On the top of that, housing will be provided by the institution that offers the module, as well as dinner on Thursday and lunches from Friday to Sunday.
