Thesis abroad scholarships were strongly supported by the Standing Student Committee under the ‘Merit Project’, and have been designed to encourage students of the master of science courses to gain experience abroad also for the drafting of the final thesis.
This kind of scholarship wants to provide concrete economic support to master's and single-cycle master's degree students who wish to develop all or part of their thesis abroad but cannot count on normal contributions for international mobility.
The foreign branch can be a university, a company, an organization and so on and it is not necessary for the university, the organization or the company to be a partner of the PoliMi.
We have two calls per academic year: the first in October and the second in March.
If you want to apply, you must have already:
- established the thesis topics with your supervisor at PoliMi
- contacted the foreign organization
- set your staying abroad for not less than 8 consecutive weeks
Applications must be submitted without exception within the specific deadline set by the Call using the appropriate Online Services function.
Based on the following:
Benefits and Agreements > Economic benefits
A "Thesis abroad" scholarship is € 2,000 gross and it must be increased up to € 3.500,00 gross for periods of stay abroad for a further eight weeks.
The scholarship holder will also receive a contribution for travel expenses of € 200 for European countries and € 500 for non-European countries.
The scholarship will be paid in two instalments: the first instalment plus the contribution for travel expenses is paid soon after the assignment; the balance will be paid when you’ll come back after your period abroad.
Second Call for Thesis abroad scholarships is closed. The First Call for a.y. 2024/25 will be published in October 2024.
